ABSTRACT

The discovery of the Higgs boson in 2012 has not been followed by any evidence for new phenomena, consolidating the status of the Standard Model as a successful description of fundamental particles and their interactions. We review the role of the Higgs boson in the Standard Model and we summarise our current understanding of the Higgs sector, and the mysteries that come with it. We discuss what still remains to be determined, and we outline the prospects at the Future Circular Collider.
